Jeremy Wariner Named Big 12 Track Athlete of the Week

WACO, Texas - Baylor sophomore Jeremy Wariner was named Big 12 Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today. Wariner won the 400 meters at the Red Raider Classic in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 45.83.

Wariner's time is the fastest in the Big 12 this season, topping his own NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 46.55 on Jan. 17 in Norman, Okla. The Grand Prairie, Texas, native also led the 4x400 relay squad to an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:07.72.

Last year, Wariner was an indoor All-American in the 400 and was a member of the Big 12 outdoor champion and All-American 4x400 relay squad.

The Bears will take a week off from competition before returning to action at the Boise Invitational on Feb. 7 in Boise, Idaho.
