WACO, Texas (AP) - Steffanie Blackmon had 23 points, Jessika Stratton a career-high 21 and Sophia Young added 20 points and 11 rebounds for 19th-ranked Baylor in an 85-66 victory Wednesday night over Kansas.
There were seven lead changes in the second half before Stratton's 3-point play put Baylor (15-3, 3-2 Big 12) in front 61-59 with just under nine minutes remaining. Stratton's basket started a 16-1 run for the Lady Bears, who extended their margin to 74-60 with 5:21 left.
Baylor utilized a zone defense to shut down the Jayhawks (8-8, 1-4). Baylor allowed only one basket in a nine-minute span of the second half.
Aquanita Burras paced Kansas with 21 points, and Crystal Kemp contributed 20.
Kansas hit its first seven shots - with Larisha Graves and Kemp scoring six points apiece - on the way to a 14-7 lead. The Jayhawks maintained their edge until Stratton hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 26-26 with just over 6 minutes left in the first half.
The lead went back and forth before Burras nailed a 3-pointer, and Kemp hit two free throws in the final two minutes, giving the Jayhawks a 40-37 bulge at the break.
