WACO, Texas - The Baylor women's track team moved up two spots into a tie for 14th, while the men jumped up three places into a tie for 17th in the latest Trackwire 25 power rankings released today. The first Dandy Dozen rankings were also released with the Bears earning three second-place spots.
Senior Jordann Willmann ranks second in the nation in the heptathlon behind Georgia's Hyleas Fountain, while junior long jumper April Holliness, who won the Oklahoma Indoor Classic title with a season-opening leap of 20-2?, also ranks second behind Nebraska's Ineta Radevica. Junior Lakadron Ivery ranks 12th in the 60 meters.
On the men's side, the 4x400-meter relay squad of sophomore Jeremy Wariner, junior Darold Williamson, sophomore Jamen Saziru and freshman Mark Teter rank second in the country behind LSU. Wariner, who won the 400-meter title at Oklahoma this past weekend with an NCAA provisional time of 46.95, ranks seventh in the event, while Williamson ranks 10th.
The Trackwire 25 projects a hypothetical score for the NCAA meet, factoring in injury reports and other variables supported by information gathered from coaches and NCAA-qualifying competitions across the country. This projection is generated by scoring the Dandy Dozen, a power ranking of the top 12 athletes and relay squads in each NCAA event. The complete Trackwire 25 can be found at www.trackwire.com.
