WACO, Texas - Head coach Todd Harbour leads his men's and women's squads to the 26th Annual North Texas Invitational in Denton, Texas on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the UNT Research Park. Joining Baylor and the University of North Texas will be runners from TCU, SMU and Oklahoma.
The men will compete on an 8K course while the women will run a 5K race. The men's race starts at 8:00 a.m. and the women's race will begin at 8:40 a.m.
Baylor's men's and women's teams will run their first true cross country event of the year on Saturday. Their opener, in Houston on Aug., 29, was a relay format. In the relays, the men's team was led by seniors Kyle King and Matt Chance's winning time of 39:46 over the 8-mile course. Also, Baylor sophomores Bo Price and Rob Morrow finished second and Mitchell Sanders, a freshman, and sophomore Cody Wells placed sixth. In the women's 6-mile race Baylor runners took four of the top six spots. Sophomores Angela Marvin and Lisa Cornelius finished second, freshmen Brittany Brockman and Monique Ortega were third, Megan McCoin and Erin Dixon were fourth and Jessa Chance and Brittany McGuire placed sixth.
"This will be a good measuring stick for us," said Harbour. "The field is strong and we will be able to see where our runners are at this point of our training."
