WACO, Texas - Baylor's football team made use of mild morning weather conditions here Tuesday on a single-session day of preseason drills. Head coach Guy Morriss said the morning practice went well.

"We only had the ball on the ground once, so we're doing a better job of taking care of the ball," said Morriss, who pointed out the offense suffered six false starts during drills. "Because we're rotating so many quarterbacks in there, they're getting different rhythms and cadences. But we've still got to be able to handle that."

Baylor returns to the practice field Wednesday morning for the first of two sessions; the Bears also practice Wednesday afternoon on the second of six two-session days during preseason drills. All practices are open to the public.

The 2003 season begins Aug. 30 as the Bears host UAB at Floyd Casey Stadium.
