Tennis' Dorsch Moves into Quarterfinals of NCAAs

WACO, Texas - Benedikt Dorsch became the first player in Baylor history to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships with his straight sets victory over Stanford's KC Corkery today at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. In addition, Dorsch and his partner Reiner Neurohr also made Baylor history by advancing to the quarterfinals in doubles.

Dorsch defeated Corkery in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6, to advance to the tournament's quarterfinals. Dorsch will now face Columbia's Oscar Chow who posted a 6-2, 7-6 victory over 40th-ranked William Barker of Rice. Chow, ranked No. 68, defeated UCLA's Chris Lam in the round of 64 and Illinois' Brian Wilson, a 9-16 seed in the tournament, in the round of 32.

Dorsch and Neurohr became Baylor's first doubles team to advance to the quarterfinals with their victory over Texas A&M's 7th-ranked tandem of Lester Cook and Ante Matijevic 6-1, 3-6, 7-5. With the victory, Dorsch and Neurohr set a new Baylor record for most doubles wins in a season by a team, they are 26-2 and have now won 14 matches in a row. The Baylor duo will now face the tournament's No. 2 seed, Oliver Maiberger and Ryan Redondo of San Diego State. They defeated Brown's Jaime Cerratani and Chris Drake, 6-3, 6-3.
