BAYLOR IN THE WNIT...
With their first, second, third round and semifinal victories over Northern Iowa, Arizona State, Fresno State and Colorado State, Baylor is 8-2 in WNIT games. The Lady Bears have hosted every WNIT game they've participated in.
This will be Baylor's second appearance in the WNIT championship game. The Lady Bears dueled the Penn State Nittany Lions for the 1998 title in Waco on March 24. The Nittany Lions prevailed 59-56 in front of the then-largest crowd in Lady Bear history, 10,057. That crowd now ranks No. 2 on Baylor's attendance list, surpassed only by Baylor's NCAA second round game with Drake last year which drew 10,074. Baylor's Lara Webb scored 26 points to lead Baylor against Penn State, she was the only double-digit scorer for the Lady Bears.
BAYLOR AND AUBURN...
Baylor comes into the game with a 24-10 record after finishing seventh in the Big 12 with an 8-8 record. The Auburn Tigers are 22-11 on the season and finished eighth in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) with an 5-9 league record. This will be the first meeting between the two schools.
Baylor has posted three straight 20-win seasons under Head Coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson. During her three years here, Mulkey-Robertson has amassed a 72-25 record. The Lady Bears are 7-1 over their last eight games.
Auburn comes into the game having won five of their last six contests. The 2003 WNIT is the Tigers' first postseason WNIT appearance. The Tigers hosted the first three rounds defeating South Alabama (77-53), Florida State (68-57) and Richmond (59-53). They earned their way into the championship game by posting a road victory over Creighton (73-62) on Monday night. The Tigers are 4-6 in road games this season.
