Women's Tennis Lose to Rebels

OXFORD, Miss - The 44th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team lost to Ole Miss Saturday 4-3, despite Daria Potapova extending her win streak to a season and team high seven straight singles wins. With the loss the Bears drop to 6-9 on the season while the Rebels move to 5-10 overall.
In doubles play, the duo of Stephanie Balzert and Izabela Mijic extended their doubles winning streak to six on the season when they defeated Karem Harboe and Florencia Basile 8-6. Anna Moncolova and Vida Mulec were defeated in the No.2 spot, 8-4, by Sabrina Peppl and Audra Adams, and the Rebels earned the doubles point when Mira Radu and Virginia Tomatis defeated Alison Bradley and Daria Potapova in the No.1 spot, 8-6. This is the first time in three outings that the Bears were not able to capitalize on the doubles point.
In singles action, Mulec earned her third singles win in a row when she defeated Harboe, 7-6(6), 6-3 in the No.2 spot. Mijic got back in her winning ways when she defeated Peppl 6-2, 4-6, 1-0. Mijic has now won 12 of her last 15 singles matches dating back to last fall. In other Baylor singles, Zuzana Krchnakova was defeated in the No. 6 spot by Adams, 6-2, 6-4, Balzert fell to Basile, 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 3 spot, and Moncolova lost her fifth straight singles match to Radu in the No. 1 spot, 6-0, 6-1
The Bears get back into Big 12 play on Tuesday when they play Texas A&M in College Station at 6 p.m.
