FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - LSU won the women's title (62 points) and Arkansas (52 points) claimed the men's crown as competition concluded on Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Arkansas' Randall Tyson Track Center. The Baylor men tied for 54th with two points.

After setting a season-best mark of 46.12 to qualify fourth on Friday, freshman Jeremy Wariner clocked a 46.21 to finish seventh in the finals of the 400-meter dash. He earned the first All-America honor of his career as well as earning Baylor's 16th indoor 400 All-America honor since 1990.

Wariner was injured during the open 400 which prevented him from running the anchor leg of the 1,600 relay. Since the relay qualifying mark of 3:07.79 was clocked by a quartet that included Wariner and All-American Darold Williamson, who is out with a hamstring injury, the Bears were unable to field a four-person team for the race. The Baylor men's 1,600 relay team had won the national title each of the past two years as well as earning indoor All-America honors every year since 1985.

"Jeremy finished the open 400 in a remarkable time of 46.21," head coach Clyde Hart said. "He cramped up during that race and there was no way I was going to take the chance that he would make it worse in the relay. We will just get ready for the outdoor season."

The Bears begin the outdoor campaign on Saturday, March 22, when they host the Dr Pepper Invitational at the Hart-Patterson Track and Field complex. Competition will begin at 9 a.m.
