WACO, Texas - Baylor's Lawrence Roberts has been named to the 2003 All-Big 12 third team, as determined by the Associated Press Monday.

This is Roberts' second AP All-Big 12 honor in as many seasons. The forward from Houston is one of three Baylor players to receive All-Big 12 status, and the second to receive multiple honors. Former Baylor honorees include current NBA player Brian Skinner (second team, 1997 and 1998), Terry Black (first team, 2001) and Roberts (third team, 2002).

Roberts is one of two sophomores on the AP's All-Big 12 teams, along with Texas' T.J. Ford. Roberts averages a double-double (15.7 points, 10.6 rebounds) and leads the Big 12 with 10 double-doubles in conference play.

Roberts and fellow Baylor sophomore Kenny Taylor were also named to 2003 Big 12 Specialty Teams released by the conference office Monday. Taylor, a guard from Houston, was named to the conference's all-improved team. Roberts was selected to the five-man all-underrated team. The specialty teams are selected by a panel of sportswriters who cover the league.

Taylor is the most-improved scorer in the Big 12 this season, his 11.4 scoring average is 7.5 points higher than last season.

Baylor is the No. 10 seed in this week's Big 12 Tournament in Dallas and faces No. 7 seed Texas Tech Thursday at 6 p.m. CST.
