WACO, Texas - Baylor started off strong early by winning the doubles point but slipped late by getting edged 4-2 in singles. The loss dropped Baylor to 1-3 on the season while the Hurricane improves to 3-0.

In doubles play the team of Barbora Blahutiakova and Alison Bradley earned Baylor's first win over Miami's Mari Toro/Staci Stevens 8-5 and the team of Stephanie Balzert and Daria Potapova sealed the point with a win at the No. 3 spot with a 8-1 victory over Miami's Igna deVilliers/Abby Smith. Vida Mulec and Anna Moncolova were defeated early in the No. 1 spot 8-3 by Miami's Melissa Applebaum/Megan Bradley.

In singles action Blahutiakova was defeated by Melissa Applebaum 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 4 spot to end Blahutiakova's three match singles winning streak. Izabela Mijic finished in the No. 6 spot with a win over Sihem Bennacer in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. Anna Moncolova was defeated by No. 57 Mari Toro in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Daria Potapova earned her first win of the spring season against Ewelina Skaza in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Stephanie Balzert was upset by Miami's Staci Stevens 6-1, 5-7, 6-4, and Vida Mulec was the last to finish on the day in the No. 1 spot where she was upset by Megan Bradley 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

The Bears' next match will be Sat., Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Baylor Tennis Center against Texas Tech.
