LAWRENCE, Kan. - Sophomore Jordan Davis dealt the crushing blow to Kansas in Baylor's victory over the Jayhawks in historic Allen Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon as the Lady Bears posted a 77-61 victory over Kansas.

With 6:53 left in the second half and the score 59-55 in favor of Baylor, Davis, a 5-9 guard, hit back-to-back three-pointers and the Lady Bears never looked back. Davis hit a total of four three-pointers in the second half to add to the two she tanked in the first stanza, finishing with a career-high 18 points.

After trading the lead back and fourth 11 times in the first half, Baylor took an eight-point lead into the lockerroom at the half, 42-34. The Lady Bears came out for the second half and promptly outscored the Jayhawks 10-0 in the first 15:29 to lead 52-34. That would prove to be Baylor's largest lead of the game as the Jayhawks then reeled off nine unanswered points. Kansas whittled Baylor's lead down to four at the 6:53 mark on a bucket by Tamara Ransburg. Baylor's stingy defense limited Kansas to just six points the rest of the game.

For the ninth time this season the Lady Bears shot over 50 percent. They were 29-of-51 from the floor for 56.9 percent and were almost as good from three-point range at 56.3 percent (9-of-16). After committing a season-high 28 turnovers against Oklahoma State earlier in the week, Baylor turned it over just 12 times against Kansas. For the 17th time in 25 games, the Lady Bears ruled the boards, hauling down 30 to Kansas' 28.

Sophomore post Steffanie Blackmon led Baylor in scoring with 19 points, Davis added 18, freshman forward Sophia Young scored 12 and junior guard Jessika Stratton tallied 10. Stratton was the Lady Bears' leading rebounder with eight, one shy of her career high. Stratton also had a team-high six assists.

Freshman Tamara Ransburg led Kansas with a 23-point, 9-rebound performance. Crystal Kemp and Stacey Becker each tallied 12.

The loss drops the Jayhawks to 10-14 on the season and 3-10 in league play while Baylor moves to 17-8 overall and 6-7 in Big 12 action.

The Lady Bears' next game will be on Wed., Feb. 26 when they host the University of Texas at the Ferrell Center at 7 p.m.
