No. 3 Baylor won six-of-six singles matches along with the doubles point, downing 45th-ranked South Alabama 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Baylor Tennis Center, to remain undefeated on the season.
Baylor's doubles teams had no trouble overpowering their opponents. The duo of Matias Marin and Ivor Lovrak quickly downed South Alabama's Clinton Jacobs and Jorgen Vestli, 8-2. The remaining doubles teams finished off their opponents 8-5.
#66 Marin continues to extend his match-winning streak to 10 after defeating Heinrich Heyl by a score of 6-4, 7-6 (6-4). No. 1 Benedikt Dorsch continues to prove why he is the top-seeded singles player, by rolling over his opponent in two sets, 6-0, 6-2. Although struggling through his first set, No. 23 Benjamin Becker bounced back to blank his opponent, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1. No. 97 Lovrak, Reiner Neurohr and Barry McLaren downed their challengers in two sets to give Baylor a clean sweep over South Alabama.
The Bears must now prepare for its stiffest challenge of the season, when they take on twenty-first-ranked Pepperdine Sunday at 2 p.m. Pepperdine was one of only two losses for Baylor during last year's season.
