Lady Bears Lose to Sooners, 78-64

NORMAN, Okla. - The Baylor Lady Bears dropped their fourth Big 12 game of the season with a 78-64 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman on Wednesday evening. The Sooners are now 15-8 overall and 6-4 in the league while Baylor falls to 15-7 and 4-6.

Baylor, using their eighth different starting lineup of the season, was led by junior post Dionne Brown's 16 point, 11 rebound effort. Brown's 16 points were a career high and the performance was her first double-double as a Lady Bear. Freshman point guard Ebony Jackson, making her first career start, added 10 points and six assists. Freshman Sophia Young, the Big 12's leading rebounder, added 10 points and nine rebounds and sophomore post Melanie Hamerly also tallied 10 points.

For the second time this season, Baylor came up dry from three-point range, missing all 13 of their attempts. The Lady Bears were outrebounded for just the seventh time this season, the Sooners won the war of the boards 45-37.

Oklahoma led 31-25 at the break and outscored Baylor 47-39 in the second half to claim the victory. Junior guard Maria Villarroel led the Sooners with 22 points.

The Lady Bears host Texas Tech on Sat., Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Ferrell Center.
