WACO, Texas - Chisa Ononiwu and Angela Tisdale have each signed a national letter of intent with Baylor during the early signing period, head women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey Robertson announced today.
"Our emphasis during this early signing period was on perimeter players and I certainly feel that we got players that can help us in the future," said Mulkey-Robertson. "Ononiwu is very athletic and has good 3-point shooting range and Tisdale is very quick and athletic."
Ononiwu, a 5-8 guard/forward from Houston, and Tisdale, a 5-5 guard out of Dell Valle, Texas, both come to the Lady Bear program with impressive credentials.
Ononiwu helped lead her Houston Westfield High School team, under coach Susan Smith, to a 29-5 record last season and the area playoffs. She averaged 12.8 points, 4.9 rebounds en route to earning first-team All-District 15-5A and second-team all-region honors. She was also named second-team all-state by Texas Basketball Magazine and rated the No. 11 prospect in Texas by the Texas Girls Basketball Report. The All-Star Girls Report (ASGR) rated her a Top 75 guard prospect as well.
Tisdale averaged 20.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 4.5 assists as a junior at Dell Valle High School under coach Tawni Angel. Last season Tisdale led the team to the area finals. She is rated as the No. 6 prospect in Texas by the Texas Girls Basketball Report and is ranked a Top 50 point guard prospect by the ASGR. In addition, she was named second-team all-state by Texas Basketball magazine, first-team all-district and first-team all-region.
