Final Stats

WACO, Texas - The Bears were unable to carry the momentum from Friday's victory over No. 15 Nebraska and fell Sunday to No. 14 Colorado 2-0 at Betty Lou Mays Field.

Colorado (10-1, 4-0 Big 12) extended its winning streak to 10 games not having recorded a loss since losing to No. 2 Portland 1-0 in its season opener. The was Baylor's (6-6, 1-3 Big 12) first loss to Colorado since losing 3-2 in 1997 in Boulder.

Colorado got on the board first when forward Orly Ripmaster knocked in a shot from 15-yards out giving the Buffaloes 1-0 advantage. Ripmaster scored when Baylor goalkeeper Monica Housden misplayed a pass from a Baylor defender. Housden muffed an attempt to clear the ball, instead inadvertantly setting up an easy shot for Ripmaster.

Ripmaster wasn't finished with her scoring campaign as she scored her second goal of the game in the 51st minute, expanding Colorado's lead to two. Ripmaster headed-in a cross from sophomore Fran Munnelly off a corner kick.

Colorado had another opportunity to add one more goal to their cause in the 62nd minute. The Buffaloes were awarded a penalty kick after senior midfielder Ryan Lee commited a foul in the Bears' box. Munnelly tried to sneak the ball past Housden in the bottom-left corner, but Housden made a diving save to deny the Buffaloes another goal.

Baylor came out in the second half firing off 10 of their 11 shots forcing Colorado goalkeeper Jessica Keller to make three saves. The Bears were led offensively by senior Candace Reilly who recorded three shots for the Bears on the day. Sophomore Tiffany Boshers and junior Ginny Rosario-Tull each had a pair of shots for the Bears as well.

The Bears have suffered four shutouts in their last six games, three of those coming against ranked appoinents. Baylor's schedule doesn't get easier as they take on No. 25 Texas and No. 3 Texas A&M next weekend, with both games on the road. The Bears play the Longhorns Friday at 7 p.m. in Austin, then head to College Station to play the Aggies Sunday at 7 p.m.
