Two Lady Bears Named All-America

WACO, Texas - Baylor Lady Bear basketball players Steffanie Blackmon and Sophia Young have been named All-America honorable mention by Street & Smith's magazine. The duo joins 28 other women's players named to the honorable mention list. In addition, Street & Smith's lists 10 players among their terrific 10 and 10 as high honorable mention.

Blackmon, a junior, and Young, a sophomore, combined to average 31.3 points, 17.8 rebounds and 2.9 blocks a game for Baylor last season. Blackmon, a 6-2 post, led the team in scoring and blocks with 17.6 points a game and 58 blocks on the season. She ranked second on the team in rebounds at 8.0. Young, in her rookie season, scored 14.2 points a game and averaged a team and Big 12-leading 10.0 rebounds a contest. Young became the first freshman to lead the Big 12 and former Southwest and Big Eight Conferences in rebounding. She was also the only Big 12 player to average a double-double last season. Young also led the team in steals with 87 and registered 43 blocks on the season.
