WACO, Texas (AP) - John Lucas scored 22 points and Terrance Thomas added 16 points and 11 rebounds as Baylor defeated Mount St. Mary's 80-47 Tuesday night.

Lucas hit eight of 10 shots from the field and all three of his free throws for Baylor (9-2).

Landy Thompson led Mount St. Mary's (5-5) with 21 points, connecting on seven of 14 3-point attempts.

The Mountaineers led 7-6 with just over 15 minutes to play in the first half, but Baylor reeled off a 20-3 run over the next nine minutes and moved in front 26-10.

Eleven first-half Mount St. Mary's turnovers generated 15 points for the Bears, and Baylor extended its lead to 41-20 at the half.

Despite holding only a 43-41 edge in rebounding, the Bears scored 34 points in the paint compared to eight for the Mountaineers.

Baylor almost doubled Mount St. Mary's in shooting percent from the floor, hitting 27 of 58 field goals for 47 percent, while the Mountaineers managed only 26 percent with a 16 for 61 effort.
