According to the latest team rankings released Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), the Baylor men's tennis team held it's ground at the No. 3 spot.
Matt Knoll's team, currently 2-0 on the season, is the Big 12's highest ranked team. They defeated No. 25 Mississippi State last week by a score of 7-0. The men will be at home this Saturday (Feb. 1) where they will face long time rival No. 31 SMU. Other Big 12 teams ranked in the top 25 were Texas at No. 11 and Texas A&M at No. 12.
Also released this week were selections for the 2003 Preseason All-Big 12 Conference Tennis Teams. Baylor dominated the men's singles nominations with four netters being honored by the Big 12 men's tennis mentors. Headlining the 12-person team are Baylor players No. 23 Benjamin Becker, No. 1 Benedkit Dorsch, No. 66 Matias Marin, and No. 22 Zoltan Papp. The Baylor doubles team of Becker and Papp, rated 47th in the country topped the doubles list with teammates Reiner Neurohr and Dorsch also earning All-Big 12 honors.
