WACO, Texas - Steffanie Blackmon scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Baylor to a 66-49 victory over Texas A&M on Wednesday.
Sophia Young and Dionne Brown added 14 and 13 points in the Lady Bear victory.
Baylor (13-3, 2-2 Big 12) opened the second half with a 13-4 run to take a 42-22 lead and put the game out of reach.
Toccara Williams led Texas A&M (8-8, 1-4) with 13 points. Janae Derrick added 11 points.
Baylor scored 50 points in the paint while holding the Aggie inside game to only 18. The Lady Bears connected on 26 of 55 field goals for 47 percent, and Texas A&M hit 34 percent with an 18 for 53 effort.
After Texas A&M scored the opening basket, the Lady Bears reeled off 14 straight points, and the Aggies never challenged. During the 14-0 run, Baylor held Texas A&M scoreless for almost eight minutes.
The Lady Bears led 29-18 at the half with Young's 11 first-half points pacing the Baylor offense.
Poor shooting and turnovers contributed to the Aggies' lackluster first-half offensive performance as Texas A&M hit only seven of 24 attempts from the floor and gave the ball away 14 times.
