CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Kyle King and Debbie Thornhill ran well at the Great American on Friday, both finishing 17th out of 168 and 174 contestants respectively.
Kyle King finished the 8k run in 27:05, narrowly edging Baylor teammates Bo Price, Matt Chance and Rob Morrow. Price, a freshman from Atlanta, Texas finished 21st overall at 27:10. Chance and Morrow both finished with times of 27:24, finishing at 34th and 35th. Rounding out the men's squad were freshmen Sam Bernal and Cody Wells finishing with times of 28:53 and 30:48.
Overall the Baylor men's team finished 7th out of 25 teams with an average time of 27:35 and placed four runners, King, Price, Chance and Morrow in the top 40.
Thornhill, a senior transfer from North Texas, was the first Lady Bear to finish at the Great American on Friday with a time of 19:00 in the 5k run. Leah Marbach finished 73rd with a time of 19:55. Megan McCoin (20:08), Jessa Vacek (20:29), Lisa Cornelius (20:38) and Emily Bonilla (21:18) also competed for the Lady Bears in Charlotte.
The Baylor women's team finished 15th out of the 26-team meet with an average time of 19:54.
Todd Harbour's teams will compete again on Oct. 12 in College Station at the Texas A&M Invitational.
