HUTCHINSON, Kan. - Jamie McLeary shot a three-round 213 to lead Baylor to a fourth place finish at the Big 12 Championship at the Prairie Dunes Country Club here Tuesday.
McLeary shot a third-round 65 Tuesday to set a Big 12 Championship record for a third round score.
McLeary (75-73-65=213) tied a career-low by shooting five-under Tuesday and recorded his fourth top-10 finish of the season.
The Bears (297-286-285=868) shot their best round of the tournament Tuesday to finish in the top five in their 10th straight tournament.
Texas (285-282-283=850) overcame a 10-stroke deficit to Oklahoma (283-274-296=853) to win the championship.
Baylor was the only team that had all five golfers finish in the top 30. Sophomore Adam Meyer (72-71-75=218) shot a closing round 75 to finish tied for 15th. Freshman Ryan Baca (75-71-74=220) shot a four over 74 in the final round to finish tied for 18th.
Freshman Derek Abel (75-74-73=222) improved with each round and shot a three-over 73 Tuesday to finish tied for 26th. Sophomore Will Doughtie (79-71-73=223) finished tied for 29th after shooting 13-over for the tournament.
Baylor will now wait to see if they will qualify for the NCAA Regional Championships. If the Bears qualify they will play May 15-17 at the Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock, Ark.
