FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - After one day of competition at the NCAA Indoor Championships here at the Tyson Randal Track Center, Baylor saw freshman April Holliness earn All-American honors in the in the long jump competition while, despite tremendous efforts, freshman Darold Williamson and senior Lanie Millar both missed qualifying into the finals in the 400 meters and the 800 meters, respectively.

Holliness' jump of 20-5 in the preliminary rounds propelled her into the finals round where she ceased to improve upon her first mark of the day and finished eighth place overall. Holliness' jump was here second-best of the season and ties as the second-best indoor distance in school history.

Running against some of the best competition in the nation and the world, Williamson finished fourth in his 400 meter heat and missed qualifying into second-day action with a time of 46.61. In Williamson's heat LSU's Alleeyne Francique, who currently owns the collegiate record in the 400 and the fastest time in the event in the world this year, came out on top (45.70), while 2001 NCAA indoor 400 champion Rickey Harris (Florida) placed second (46.31) and Clemson's Ato Modibo rounded out the heat with a time of 46.43. Williamson's time of 46.61 was his second fastest of the season and good enough for an 11th place finish overall.

In the 800 meter run senior Lanie Millar concluded her indoor season finishing eighth in her preliminary heat and 15th overall with a time of 2:08.52. Millar's time was her fourth fastest of the season.

Baylor will continue action from the NCAA Indoor Championships tomorrow, March 9, as Jim Autenreith participates in the pole vault beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the men's 4x400 team runs the relay at 8:10 p.m.
