WACO, Texas - The 21st-ranked Baylor women's tennis fell to No. 11 Washington in the 2002 USTA/ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championships at the University of Wisconsin's A.C. Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
The Bears' doubles team of Katja Kovac and Vida Mulec , ranked No. 25, upset Washington's 15th-ranked doubles duo of Carter/Klaic, 8-6. That would prove to be Baylor's lone doubles victory as Graf/Borjesson and Stephen/Potapova lost 8-5, 8-3, respectively.
Taking a 1-0 lead into singles, the Huskies posted three victories to earn the win. Katja Kovac, ranked No. 29, earned a point for Baylor with a three set victory over No. 39 Claire Carterat No. 1 singles. BU's 43rd ranked Vida Mulec won at No 2 singles and freshman Daria Potapova posted a straight set victory at No. 5 to complete Baylor's scoring.
The Bears are now 3-2 on the season and 1-2 in the tournament while Washington is now 6-1 overall and 2-1 on the week.
