COMING UP...
The Lady Bears, currently 22-4, 10-4, have won nine of their last ten Big 12 games which includes recent victories over #15 Texas Tech, Texas A&M, #18 Texas and #11Colorado. Oklahoma State, 14-13 and 6-8, has won their last two home game, both over ranked teams. They defeated then-No. 16 Texas Tech (58-55) and then-No. 10 Iowa State (64-63). After defeating Nebraska (72-66) in Lincoln on Wednesday, they now own a three-game winning streak.
Oklahoma State is 5-0 against Baylor in Gallagher-Iba Arena and the Cowgirls are 10-3 at home this season. The game in Stillwater last season was also on Fox Sports Net. The Cowgirls prevailed 69-66 in overtime.
THE LADY BEARS...
Baylor, 22-4, 10-4, after posting two wins last week, have moved back into the top 10 in the Associated Press Poll, they are now No. 9 in the AP poll. The Lady Bears started the season ranked No. 14. Baylor moved up three spots to No. 8 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll.
Twenty-six games into the season the Lady Bears are led by all-American candidates seniors Sheila Lambert (Seattle, Wash./Chief Sealth HS) and Danielle Crockrom (Houston/North Shore HS). Lambert leads the way with 19.7 points per game, while Crockrom follows at 17.9. Crockrom leads the team in rebounding at 9.5 an outing. Freshman post Steffanie Blackmon (Dallas/Rowlett HS) follows with 9.8 points and 5.1 rebounds a game.
THE OPPOSITION...
Oklahoma State Cowgirls
Oklahoma State, 14-13 and 5-8, has won their last two home game, both over ranked teams. They defeated then-No. 16 Texas Tech (58-55) and then-No. 10 Iowa State (64-63). After defeating Nebraska (72-66) in Lincoln on Wednesday, they now own a three-game winning streak..
Sophomore forward Trisha Skibbe leads the Cowgirls in scoring at 15.3 a game and also owns the team's best rebounding average at 6.6 a game. She is followed in both categories by senior forward Tari Cummings' 13.4 points and 6.5 rebounds a contest.
THE COACHES...
Baylor's Kim Mulkey-Robertson is in her second year as a head coach after guiding the Lady Bears to a 21-9 record and the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament in her inaugural season. The Lady Bears enjoyed tremendous improvement last season over Baylor's 7-20 record of 1999-2000. Her career record is 43-13 (.768).
Oklahoma State is coached by Dick Halterman. He is in his 19th season as the Cowgirls' head coach. Halterman is 331-231 (.589) in his 19 seasons at Oklahoma State and is 580-265 (.686) in 28 years as a head coach.
