WESTWOOD, Calif. - Six Lady Bears scored in double figures as Baylor posted an 89-77 road victory over UCLA in Pauley Pavilion. With the win, Baylor raises its record to 9-1 while the Bruins fall to 4-4 on the season.

Steffanie Blackmon and Sophia Young each posted double-doubles for the Lady Bears. Blackmon reached the 20-point barrier for the third time this season with a 22 point, 13 rebound performance. Young, a freshman, tallied 12 points and 13 rebounds which tied her career high in boards. Baylor controlled the boards, winning the rebounding war 45-26. In fact, Blackmon and Young's combined 26 rebounds matched the UCLA team's total. Also adding double-digit scoring for Baylor were Chelsea Whitaker with a career-high 15 points, Jessika Stratton added 12 and Stasha Richards and Jordan Davis each tallied 11.

Baylor trailed the Bruins 45-39 at the end of the first half. UCLA led by as much as 11 with 13:03 left in the half. In the second half, Baylor slowly whittled away the UCLA lead and finally tied the game at 67-67 with 10:33 left in the game on a layup by Chelsea Whitaker. The Lady Bears took the lead for good on a 3-point shot by Stasha Richards 70-67 with 10:16 left. UCLA cut Baylor's lead back to one on a layup by Emma Tautolo. At the 9:21 mark, Baylor went on a 10-0 scoring run on a layup and a 3-pointer by Richards, a 3-pointer by Jessika Stratton and a jumper by Steffanie Blackmon.

Baylor continued it's hot shooting for the year. They shot over 50.0 percent for the seventh time this season with a 58.1 percent shooting effort against UCLA.

For UCLA, freshman Nikki Blue scored 26 points and senior Michelle Greco added 16. Jamila Veasley led the Bruins in rebounding with six.

Baylor will take a break for the Christmas holidays. They will host Mercer University on Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Ferrell Center.
