Women's Sports Foundation to Honor Baylor

WACO, Texas - Donna Lopiano, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Women's Sports Foundation, will present Baylor's Senior Women's Administrator, Nancy Post, with a commendation recognizing Baylor's continued commitment to women's athletics.
Baylor is hosting this year's Women's Sports Foundation Tournament which is co-produced by the Basketball Travelers, Inc. Dr. Lopiano will present the commendation at halftime of Baylor's game with Princeton on Fri., Nov. 22. Alcorn State and Southwest Texas will tip off the tournament at 6 p.m. on Friday followed by the Baylor-Princeton matchup at 8 p.m. The tournament's consolation game will be on Saturday at 6 p.m. followed by the championship game at 8 p.m.
The Women's Sports Foundation , a charitable educational organization, is among the top grant-giving public women's funds in the United States, distributing between $500,000 - 1 million in grants to girls' and women's sports programs each year.
Annually, the Foundation:
- Responds to over 100,000 requests for public information
- Distributes over 2 million pieces of educational materials
- Generates 1.5 billion media impressions of its facts and opinions on women's sports issues
- Advocates in over 100 gender equity situations
According to The Sporting News, Lopiano is listed as one of the "100 Most Influential People in Sports" (2000) and Sports Business Journal lists her among the "top 10 female sports executives" in the nation (2001). A prolific writer and speaker, she is a champion of equal opportunity for women in sport and ethical conduct of educational sports.
In addition, Lopiano is a former Director of Women's Athletics at the University of Texas.
