WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's basketball team finished its 2002 exhibition season with a 101-83 victory Tuesday night over the Texas Bluechips at the Ferrell Center.
Sophomore John Lucas again led the Bears, scoring 20 points on 6-of-15 shooting. Lucas added five assists and two rebounds on the night. Senior Steven Othoro, junior transfer Terrance Thomas and sophomore transfer Ellis Kidd each added 13 points.
Senior R.T. Guinn and junior transfer Carlton Dotson each poured in 11 points as six Bears finished the night with double-digit scoring totals.
Thomas pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds, while Othoro and Dotson each had seven boards. Junior Matt Sayman had eight assists to pace Baylor.
In their two exhibition wins, the Bears outscored their opponents by a combined 229-138. Tuesday's win was payback of a sort for Baylor, who lost to the Bluechips last year, 87-84.
The Bears open the 2002 regular season Saturday at 7 p.m. against Alcorn State; the game is to be played in Dallas at Reunion Arena as part of the Dallas Lonestar Basketball Classic.
