SELLOUT 2002...
The Sellout 2002 campaign is an effort to fill the Ferrell Center for the women's Jan. 12 contest vs. Oklahoma. Oklahoma's women have won back-to-back Big 12 championships. The game will be televised live on FOX Sports Net Southwest.

Tickets may be purchased for $5, and can be purchased at the Baylor athletic ticket office or by calling 254-710-1000.

SCHOOL NIGHT...
Wednesday's game versus Kansas will be School Night. All students, 14 and under, will be admitted free of charge either by wearing their school t-shirt or producing a school ID card.

COMING UP...
Kansas, 5-10 and 0-2 on the season, comes into the Ferrell Center hoping to break a two-game losing streak while the Lady Bears, 12-1 and 0-1, hope to rebound from their first loss of the season when they dropped an 89-75 decision at Kansas State.

THE LADY BEARS...
Baylor, 12-1, 0-1, dropped four spots to No. 12 in the Associated Press poll after losing at Kansas State on Saturday, Jan. 5. The Lady Bears started the season ranked No. 14. In addition, they dropped to No. 11 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll.

Thirteen games into the season the Lady Bears are led by seniors Sheila Lambert (Seattle, Wash./Chief Sealth HS), Danielle Crockrom (Houston/North Shore HS) and freshman Steffanie Blackmon (Dallas/Rowlett HS). Lambert leads the way with 18.1 points per game, while Crockrom follows at 16.7 and Blackmon manages 9.4 a contest off the bench. Crockrom leads the team in rebounding at 9.6 an outing. Sophomore Chanelle Fox (Houston/Westfield HS) follows at 5.5 boards a contest, senior post Brooke McCormack (Melbourne, Australia) averages 5.3 and Blackmon checks in at 5.2.

MORE BALANCE AND DEPTH...
After relying mainly on Sheila Lambert and Danielle Crockrom last season (they accounted for 56 percent of last season's points), the Lady Bears now have more balance and depth on their roster. Several returnees gained valuable experience last season and have shown marked improvement, resulting in more playing time and production this season. Also, the freshmen, especially Steffanie Blackmon, Kelly Sords (Austin/Westlake HS) and Jordan Davis (Celina/Celina HS), have seen considerable floor time with favorable results. In fact, those three freshmen combine to average over 14 minutes a game.

BENCH CONTRIBUTING...
The Lady Bears are getting more help from off the bench this season. The reserves are contributing 32.5 percent of the Lady Bear's points. Five of the team's seven freshmen are averaging over 9.6 minutes a game. Between them, three freshmen, Steffanie Blackmon, Kelly Sords and Jordan Davis average over 14 minutes a game.

STILL THE HEART AND SOUL...
Even though the Lady Bear squad has more depth and balance this season, seniors Sheila Lambert (18.1 ppg, 5.08 apg, 4.7 rpg) and Danielle Crockrom (16.7 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 1.31 bpg) are still forces to be reckoned with. The pair are both on the watch list for the Naismith Award, which honors the best player in the nation. They are both preseason all-Americans and were picked by both the Big 12 coaches and media to the preseason first-team All-Big 12.

FRESHMAN STEFFANIE BLACKMON IMPRESSIVE...
Freshman post Steffanie Blackmon is impressive coming off the bench for the Lady Bears. Through 13 games the rookie averages 9.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.15 blocks and 17.1 minutes a game. Her 15 blocked shots ranks second on the team.

DOUBLE FIGURE SCORING STREAKS...
Sheila Lambert has scored in double figures in 25 straight games while Danielle Crockrom has a string of 21 going. In fact, Lambert has scored in double figures in every game of her Baylor career except one (4 points vs. Texas, Jan. 27, 2001). She has scored in double digits in 42 of her 43 games at Baylor.

LAMBERT ACCOUNTS FOR...
When factoring in points scored and assists, senior guard Sheila Lambert has a hand in 35.6 percent of Baylor's points this season. She has scored 235 points and dished out 66 assists so far this season which accounts for 367 points.

LEADING THE TEAM...
Sheila Lambert has led the team in scoring in six games this season and Danielle Crockrom has been the team's top scorer five times. Steffanie Blackmon has taken scoring honors twice and Jessika Stratton once. Crockrom has been the team's top rebounder on seven occasions, Blackmon three times, Chanelle Fox twice and Stasha Richards and Lambert once each. Lambert has dished out the most assists eight times, Fox three times and Nicole Collins, Brooke McCormack and Stratton have led the team in assists one game each.

Crockrom has led the squad in both scoring and rebounding three times and Lambert once. Lambert has had the team's top marks in scoring and assists twice.

NATIONAL ATTENDANCE...
In unofficial women's basketball Division I home attendance statistics compiled weekly by the University of Wisconsin, the Lady Bears rank #16 with 4,119 a game. Four other Big 12 teams rank above Baylor:

THE OPPOSITION...
Kansas Jayhawks
Kansas returned seven players off last season's 12-17 squad that finished ninth in the Big 12. They come into the game with a 5-10 overall record and are 0-2 in Big 12 play. They have dropped conference games at Texas Tech (76-54) and at home against Texas A&M (58-51). The Jayhawks and the Lady Bears have no common opponents yet this season.

Seniors Selena Scott and KC Hilgenkamp are the only two Jayhawks to average double digits in scoring. Scott, a 5-5 guard, leads the way with 12.8 points a game while Hilgenkamp, a 5-10 guard, checks in at 12.4. The team's rebounding leader is 6-2 sophomore post Sharonne' Spencer at 5.4 a game. Kristin Geoffroy, a 6-6 senior center, is right behind her with 5.0 boards a game.

THE COACHES...
Baylor's Kim Mulkey-Robertson is in her second year as a head coach after guiding the Lady Bears to a 21-9 record and the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament in her inaugural season. The Lady Bears enjoyed tremendous improvement last season over Baylor's 7-20 record of 1999-2000. Her career record is 33-10 (.767).

Kansas is coached by Marian Washington. She is in her 28th season as the Jayhawks' head coach. Washington is 540-314 (.632) in her 28 years at Kansas.

SERIES RECORD...
This will be the 10th meeting between the two schools and Kansas leads the series 6-3. The Lady Bears posted their first-ever win in Lawrence last year with an 85-80 victory. Kansas has won two of the last three meetings between the two schools.

LAST MEETING...
On Jan. 6, 2001 the Lady Bears posted their first-ever win in Lawrence with an 85-80 victory. Sheila Lambert and Danielle Crockrom combined to score 60 of Baylor's 85 points against the Jayhawks. Lambert scored a career-high 37 while Crockrom tallied a double-double with a 23-point, 11-rebound performance. In addition, Chanelle Fox hauled down a career-high and team-leading 12 rebounds. For Kansas' returning players, Selena Scott and KC Hilgenkamp combined for 25 points and 12 assists. Hilgenkamp tallied 13 points and five assists while Scott accounted for 12 points and seven assists.
