Waco, Texas - Baylor sophomore Reiner Neurohr and freshman Benjamin Becker are ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Preseason Singles Top 100 it was announced recently. In addition, Neurhor and junior Zoltan Papp are ranked No. 30 in doubles as well.
Neurhor, a native of Worms, Germany, earned a preseason ranking of No. 79. Last season he was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year and earned All-Big 12 honors in doubles.
With his ranking of No. 98, Becker, a native of Orscholz, Germany, becomes the first Baylor newcomer to be ranked in the top100.
"Reiner and Zoltan's rankings reflect the fine season they had last year. They've done some good things and we're looking forward to an even more impressive year to come," Baylor men's tennis head coach Matt Knoll said.
"Ben's ranking is a reflection of his prior play since he's never played a college match," said Knoll. "The ranking will get him into tournaments he wouldn't normall y have qualified for and he needs to take advantage of those opportunities. Now, we've got to do a better job with the other guys. To be a national power, you've got to have more players ranked. The other guys need to step it up," he added.
