Honolulu - The Baylor Lady Bears won the Tesoro Invitational hosted by the University of Hawai'i by posting victories over both tournament host Hawai'i and Illinois-Chicago. In addition, Danielle Crockrom was named tournament MVP and Sheila Lambert was also named to the all-tournament team.
Crockrom led the No. 9 Lady Bears to a 70-65 victory over Hawai'i on Friday evening with a 24 point, 10 rebound performance. Lambert added 23 points, five rebounds and five assists.
In Saturday's victory over Illinois-Chicago, which raised the Lady Bears' record to 9-0, freshman post Steffanie Blackmon came off the bench to lead the Lady Bears to a 62-43 victory. Blackmon was 4-for-5 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the free throw line to score 15 points and tie her career high. Junior Stasha Richards was the team's leading rebounder with a career-high 11 boards.
Joining Crockrom and Lambert on the all-tournament team were Hawai'i's April Atuaia and Natasja Allen and Zsuzsa Tarnai of Illinois-Chicago.
Hawai'i captured the runner-up slot with a 71-50 victory over Illinois-Chicago on Sunday.
The Lady Bears will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 16 when they host UCLA in a 1:00 p.m. game. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net.
