WACO, Texas (AP) - No. 12 Baylor opened the game with 16 straight points and went on to beat Sam Houston State 87-42 Tuesday night.
Sheila Lambert scored 13 points and Steffanie Blackmon added 14 for Baylor (5-0).
Baylor dominated from the outset, holding Sam Houston scoreless in the first five minutes of the game, and led 48-13 at halftime.
Baylor shot 57 percent, going 37-for-65 for the game, while the Bearkats (0-5) only hit 16-of-59 shots. They managed a meager 4-of-26 attempts in the first half.
Kelly Brown led Sam Houston with 17 points.
Baylor extended its lead to 66-27 with just over 11 minutes remaining and coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson pulled her starting lineup.
