WACO, Texas - Chameka Scott and Sophia Young signed National Letters of Intent to attend Baylor University and play for the Lady Bears Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson announced today.
Scott is a 5-11 guard out of Houston's Clear Brook High School. As a junior last season Scott averaged 22 points, 14 rebounds and three steals per game. Pam Crawford, her high school coach, played basketball with Mulkey-Robertson at Louisiana Tech.
"Chameka comes from a very good high school program in Houston," said Mulkey-Robertson. "She is a very good perimeter player with outstanding athletic ability. She has the ability to create things off the dribble and runs the floor very well."
Young, a native of St. Vincent, West Indies, currently attends Evangel Academy in Shreveport, La., as an exchange student. Due to Louisiana rules, an exchange student cannot play two consecutive years. Young played her sophomore year and sat out her junior season. She will play her senior season for Evangel Academy.
"Sophia's best basketball is ahead of her. She is a diamond in the rough," said Mulkey-Robertson. "She possesses tremendous athleticism and has great leaping ability."
