Waco, Texas - Baylor's men's tennis team will be participating in the 2001 Omni Hotels Region VI Championships beginning Friday, Oct. 26, at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth. The singles finalists and doubles champions from this event will earn spots in the Nov. 8-11 Omni Hotels National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas.

Nine Baylor players will compete with players from 15 other schools in the Regional Championships. Other schools competing will be TCU, Texas A&M, Texas, SMU, Rice, Arkansas, Arkansas-Little Rock, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Texas Tech, Texas-Arlington, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas-San Antonio, Texas-Pan American and Lamar. Participating for Baylor will be Benni Becker, Armando Carrascosa, Mike Garcia, Markus Hornung, Matias Marin, Nathan McGregor, Reiner Neurohr, Zoltan Papp and Cory Ross.

The format for the tournament will feature a 128-man singles draw and a doubles draw of 64 teams. Consolation matches will be played following first round action.

First round matches begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. Singles and doubles finals will be played at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 29.
