Oklahoma 33, Baylor 17
Oct. 20, 2001 - Norman, Okla.
BAYLOR HEAD COACH KEVIN STEELE
On Oklahoma:
"That's a good football team in the other locker room. They're well coached and they are good players."
On the outcome:
"I'm frustrated but I'm not down. It's my job to figure out how to get it done, totally."
On the second half:
"We made some adjustments at halftime. We made some offensive changes but the defense just revved their motors up."
"We played cautious in the first half but we came out more aggressive after halftime. I think our tempo was better in this game. This is the fastest we've snapped the ball all year."
On quarterback Davon Vinson:
"We evaluate our players every week, and Vinson has been practicing hard. We do what's best for our football team to be successful. It was just time to add another dimension to our offense."
On Baylor's sacks:
"Our defensive coaches had a good game plan on how to approach things today. I also think we had guys out there who were relentless in the pass rush."
On the future:
"Our kids have a lot of pride and a lot of fight in them. We have to make sure we step it up a little bit."
BAYLOR DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR BRICK HALEY
On Jason White
"When he's running with the football, it's like they're got another running back out there. He's a tough hombre because we hit him hard today and he just kept getting back up."
BAYLOR RECEIVER REGGIE NEWHOUSE
On halftime:
"The big difference after the half was attitude. We refocused at halftime and went out there and drove the ball down the field."
On quarterback Davon Vinson:
"It wasn't a surprise to see him (Vinson) out there. He's a true freshman in his first game against Oklahoma, and he did a really good job."
BAYLOR DEFENSIVE BACK BOBBY HART
On halftime:
"He (Kevin Steele) just told us we were too loose in the first half. We needed to stick with our man long enough to give the pass rushers time to get to the ball, and I think we did that. We just need to play all four quarters."
