Texas took the lead in the 15th minute. Junior Abby Gutowski took a pass from freshman Kylee Wosnuk on the right side and knocked it past Baylor goalkeeper Dawn Greathouse to give the Longhorns a 1-0 lead.

Nine minutes later, Wosnuk cut through the Baylor defense, had her shot blocked by Greathouse, but scored on the rebound for Texas' second score.

Baylor's goal came three minutes later. Sophomore Tamura Crawley cleared the ball ahead to junior Rachel Kacsmaryk, who overtook the Texas defense and nudged the ball past Texas goalkeeper Shay Wilkerson to cut the Texas lead to 2-1. The goal was Kacsmaryk's first of the season.
