LOS ANGELES - UCLA blanked Baylor 4-0 Sunday afternoon in the Bears' second and final game at the 2000 USC Fila Challenge.
The Bears (2-3-1) suffered their first shutout of the season. Baylor and UCLA battled to a 0-0 score at halftime, but the Bruins' Sarah-Gayle Swanson recorded a hat trick in the second half, scoring UCLA's first three goals. Tracey Milburn added a fourth score with four minutes to go to seal the win for UCLA.
UCLA controlled all aspects of the match, outshooting Baylor 26-3. The Bruins' goalie, CiCi Peterson, needed only one save to shutout the Bears.
Baylor forward Molly Cameron had her consecutive-game scoring streak snapped at five in the loss. The five-game streak tied Courtney Saunders's school record, set in September 1999. Cameron had scored once in each of the Bears' first five games this season and has accounted for all of Baylor's scoring to date this year.
The four goals were the most Baylor goalkeeper Dawn Greathouse has allowed this season.
Baylor now returns home and will host Colorado College Sunday at 1 p.m. CT at the Baylor Soccer Stadium.
