Bears Have Strong Showing At Houston Meet

HOUSTON - The Baylor women's track team took first place with 147 points at the Lewis-Tellez Dedication Meet hosted by the Univeristy of Houston. The men's team finished third with 111 points.
Barbara Petrahn won the 400 meters with a time of 52.46, while Karin Enrstrom did the same in the 3000 meters with a 9:44.79. The women's 4x400 meter realy team also took the meet title with a 3:39.70. The sprint realy team was second to Tulane (45.55) with a time of 45.84.
In the field events, Ebony Hammond took first in the discus with a mark of 148-10. Brandi Harris jumped her way to second place in the long jump with a 19-03.25.
For the men, Randy Davis won the 100 meters with a 10.81, Brandon Couts took the 400 meter title with a 44.74, and Floyd Thompson was first in the 800 meters with a 1:49.97.
Both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams won their events with a 40.01 and 3:05.21 repectively.
The Bears will race next weekend at the Texas Relays in Austin.
