Ty Beard enters his eighth season as a member of the Baylor Basketball staff in 2024-25. This season will be his first as the Director of Basketball Operations. He joined the Bears as director of video operations on June 19, 2017, and spent seven seasons in that role.
Beard has more than a decade of collegiate coaching experience. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant for Scott Drew’s Baylor staff during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons, helping the Bears to the 2010 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, and in his second stint on Drew’s staff, he helped guide the Bears to greater heights with the 2021 National Championship and back-to-back Big 12 titles in 2021 and 2022.
In seven seasons with Beard as director of video operations, the Bears posted a combined 167-72 record, including 124 Big 12 Conference wins.
Combined with a 46-21 record during his two seasons as a graduate assistant, Baylor is 213-93 in nine seasons with Beard on staff.
Beard was associate head coach at Oklahoma Wesleyan for three seasons from 2011-12 through 2013-14, and he served as assistant coach at John Brown University for three seasons from 2014-15 through 2016-17.
A Midlothian, Texas native, Beard received his Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Baylor in 2009 and a master’s in Sports Management from BU in 2011.
He is married to the former Meagan Morris, a 2011 Baylor graduate and the daughter of longtime “Voice of the Bears” John Morris. The couple has two sons, Truett and Turner.
