Maddie Luitwieler-Caruana joined Jay Goble's staff on June 20, 2024.
In her first season on campus the Bears didn't miss a beat, as she played a key role in helping the Baylor become one of just seven teams to reach the NCAA Championship in seven of the last eight full seasons. Primarily walking with Silje Ohma this season, she helped lower the junior's stroke average from 75.17 to 73.43, while walking with her to a career-high five top-10 finishes, including a career-best runner-up at the PDI Intercollegiate. BU's win in Orlando, gave the squad a team win for the seventh-consecutive season, with the Bears' 30-under 834 ranking as the third-best team round in school history. She also helped the team to a strong tie for fourth at the Folds of Honor Collegiate in her first event with the team.
The Katy, Texas, native came to Baylor after a season as the director of operations and assistant coach for the 2024 Big 12 Champion Texas Longhorns. Goble's relationship with Luitwieler-Caruana dates back to her high school days, when he recruited her out of Cinco Ranch High School.
A 2019 sports management graduate from Texas, Luitwieler-Caruana played professionally on the Epson and Women’s All-Pro Tours. She made six starts on the Epson Tour in 2021 after a very successful debut season on the Women’s All-Pro Tour in 2020.
Finishing tied for 14th in her second event as a pro, she closed the season strong with top-10s in six of her final eight events, including a win at the Paragon Casino Championship in October of 2020. Over the next three seasons, she made 30 more starts, highlighted by a tie for fifth at the Delta Downs Invitational in September of 2021.
A four-time letterwinner with the Longhorns, Luitwieler-Caruana was a part of three-straight Big 12 Championship teams in Austin from 2017-19. In all four seasons on the 40 Acres, she took home Academic All-Big 12 honors and made the Big 12 Academic Honor Roll. On the course, she competed in 27 tournaments across her career, notching a pair of top-10 finishes, including her career-best finish, a tie for 6th, at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational. As a senior, she added another top-10 with a tie for eighth at the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
In addition to her sports management degree she also holds a business minor from the University of Texas. Formerly Madison Luitwieler, she married Liam Caruana in the spring of 2024.
