Jovan Overshown serves as Baylor University’s Deputy Athletics Director and Chief Operating Officer, where she provides executive leadership and strategic direction across three of the department’s four divisions: the athletics front office, student-athlete services, and external affairs and business development.
Working closely with the department's executive cabinet, Overshown plays a central role in the day-to-day leadership of Baylor Athletics, helping to shape vision, drive collaboration and alignment across the department and broader University and advance the growth and success of all 19 intercollegiate sport programs.
Her direct sport oversight includes Baylor Football, which saw its longest regular season win streak in program history during the 2024 campaign, and she formerly worked with women’s basketball and women’s tennis. Overshown’s divisional oversight spans governance and regulatory affairs, health and wellness, life formation, revenue generation and brand engagement.
Overshown served alongside Executive Senior Associate AD Cody Hall as Co-Interim Athletic Directors from Nov. 13 to Dec. 18, 2025 until the hiring of Doug McNamee.
Since arriving at Baylor in 2017, Overshown has been a catalyst for innovation, growth, and lasting impact. In 2023, she led the transition of Baylor’s multimedia rights ownership to Playfly Sports Properties, securing a 63% increase in total base revenue. In 2019, she led the Baylor x NIKE “United” departmentwide rebrand creating a refined and refreshed brand identity while honoring a longstanding tradition of excellence.
A proven driver of revenue, under her leadership, the Baylor Bear Foundation exceeded fundraising goals for seven straight years, with FY24 and FY25 eclipsing $25M raised. In addition, Baylor’s licensing program also reached an all-time high, generating over $2M in royalties in FY25.
Overshown previously served as Baylor’s Deputy AD for External Affairs, Senior Associate AD for External Affairs and Associate AD for Branding and Engagement. Prior to Baylor she held varying leadership roles at The King’s University, TCU and SMU.
Deeply committed to service, Overshown was selected as a member of Leadership Waco Class XLI, joining a distinguished network of civic-minded professionals working to strengthen Greater Waco. She holds a BBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurial Management from Texas Christian University and an MBA in Marketing from Tarleton State.
Overshown and her husband, Billy, are proud parents to two sons, Beckham King and Hendrix Steel.
