Javier Salas

Javier Salas serves Baylor Athletics as an Athletics Performance coach, working primarily with the soccer program and assisting with softball.

Salas joined the Athletics Performance staff in the Fall of 2023 as a Fellow, assisting with acrobatics & tumbling, baseball, soccer, equestrian, track & field and tennis programs until July 2024 when he was promoted to his current role.

Salas came to Baylor from Fairmont State University where he served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach from August 2021 to June 2023. He worked with all 17 of their sports including overseeing all aspect of strength and conditioning for women’s soccer, cross country, tennis, and swimming. 

Prior to Fairmont State University, he was a strength and conditioning intern for Arizona Christian University, working with all 22 of their sports from September 2020 to June of 2021.

Salas also worked as an assistant track and field coach for Barry Goldwater High School where he oversaw programming for hurdles and distance events including implementing strength training for the entire team from February 2019 to May 2021.

The Phoenix, Ariz., native graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2020 where he earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science. He earned a Master of Education degree in Exercise Science from Fairmont State University in 2023.

Salas holds certifications through the CSCCa (SCCC), NSCA (CSCS), USATF (USATF Level-1), and USAW (USAW Level-1).
