David Kaye is in his 17th season in Baylor Athletics, currently serving as Senior Associate AD, Athletics General Manager and men's basketball sport program administrator. He is in his eighth year on the Baylor Athletics Leadership Team, spending four years as men's golf sport program administrator before taking over as men's basketball SPA during the 2022-23 season, and his second year on the Baylor Athletics Executive Team.
Kaye was promoted to Associate AD for External Affairs in August 2022, where he served as chief of staff for the external relations unit and later became the athletics department lead on NIL initiatives, leading to his appointment as Baylor's first NIL General Manager on May 13, 2024.
Prior to taking on the External Affairs Operations role, he spent the prior six years as Assistant AD for Communications, overseeing the nine-member Athletics Communications team. He most recently served as the primary football and men's basketball contact during the 2021-22 academic year when Baylor won both Big 12 titles, and he was men's basketball SID for a 10-year stretch beginning in 2012, including the 2021 National Championship season.
Kaye spent his first three years on the Baylor staff as Assistant Director, serving as the media contact for baseball and acrobatics & tumbling and assisting with football. He was promoted to Associate Director when he transitioned to men’s basketball duties in 2012. He became Director of Athletics Communications in 2016, took over leadership of the athletics communications office as Assistant AD for Communications in 2017 and added responsibilities as the primary football contact in 2021.
Kaye’s first SID position was at the University of South Alabama. He started at USA as an intern in 2008 and became assistant media relations director in 2009. He served as the primary contact for Jaguar baseball and women’s golf and was the secondary contact during USA’s inaugural football season.
Prior to joining the staff at USA, Kaye spent two years as a student intern in the Baylor Athletics Media Relations office.
Kaye joined the Army Reserve following his freshman year at Baylor in 2003, and he was called to active duty two weeks prior to the completion of his junior year. After a three-month extended training session, he was deployed to the Middle East, where he spent two months in Kuwait and Uzbekistan before being stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan, for the final 10 months of a 15-month deployment. He received an honorable discharge in 2011 following eight years of service.
Kaye returned to Baylor in fall 2006 and graduated in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism - Public Relations with areas of concentration in marketing and management.
Prior to entering the athletics communications field, Kaye gained experience as a stringer with the Waco Tribune-Herald and a sportswriter for The Baylor Lariat.
Kaye is a member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
A Katy, Texas, native, he is married to the former Emily Ingram of Bastrop, La., who graduated from Baylor in 2005 and serves as Baylor University's Director of Advancement Communications. They have had four foster sons who have all been reunified with their families.
