Chris Istre

Chris Istre serves the Baylor Athletics Department as the Associate Athletics Director of Business Operations. He was promoted to this role in June of 2023.

In his role, he is the primary business office contact for three NCAA sport programs at Baylor and multiple administrative units, including BU football. He assists in the development of the annual budget for the department and has oversight of the day-to-day business operations for the Business Office. Istre also provides oversight of Athletics Equipment Services and the Informational Technology post for athletics. In addition to these responsibilities, Istre serves as the primary Sport Program Administrator for Men's Golf.

Since January of 2020, Istre has been an adjunct professor, serving as a co-professor for Financial Management in Sport course within the Baylor Sport Management Graduate Program.

Prior to his promotion in June of 2023, Istre was the Assistant Athletics Director of Business Operations since August of 2017. During that time, he assisted in the implementation of the new all-school agreement with Nike and developed a model assigning allocations to all sport programs. He was the secondary sport program administrator to the Acrobatics & Tumbling team and served as the primary SPA for men's and women's tennis.

From September of 2016 to July 2017, Istre was the Director of Athletics Business Operations, and prior to that, he was the Assistant Director of Business Operations from March 2012 to 2016. 

Previously, Istre served as a credit analyst for Central National Bank in Waco from May of 2011 to March of 2012.

A two-time Baylor graduate, the Waco, Texas, native earned his bachelor's in business administration in 2009 and earned his master's in education in 2010.

Istre is married to Staci Istre and the couple have two children, Collins and Brooks.
