Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure
For the second year in a row, Baylor athletes have been involved with the Central Texas Race for the Cure. The race, featuring over 6,000 runners, helps raise money for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. A large portion of the money specifically benefits Central Texans. Head Football Coach Guy Morriss served as the official race starter this year, while the Baylor women's basketball NCAA Tournament team did the honors for last year's race. The football team volunteers to set up downtown Waco on the eve of race day, including building scaffolding, tents, and a stage. Student-athletes across all Baylor varsity sports participate as volunteers on the day of the race, and some even lace up their sneakers to run the 5K.
