WACO, Texas -
Baylor earned two spots on the GTE District VI Academic All-America Team roster as men's tennis' Mark Williams and track's Karin Ernstrom were named to the at-large first teams for spring sports.
Williams, a junior finance major, finished the season with a 33-8 record in singles and a 24-11 mark in doubles. The doubles team of Williams and David Hodge has ranked among the top ten in the nation since December and currently is ranked eighth. He has earned Academic All-Big 12 honors three times and was named this year's team MVP.
Ernstrom, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, is a graduate student majoring in mathematics. She has won all-America honors in three sports during her time at Baylor, but she is also no stranger to academic awards, having been named to the 2000 GTE Academic All-America first team for fall/winter sports. This spring, she finished eighth at the NCAA Indoor meet in the 5000m.
Members of the first team advance to the GTE Academic All-America University Division Spring At-Large Team national ballot.
