Two Baylor deaths: Red Donaldson and Clyde Robinson

Guayford O. "Red" Donaldson came to Baylor in the fall of 1949 after graduating from Midway High school near Waco. He lettered in football and track and was on Coach Jack Patterson's first championship relay teams. In football he was a pass-catching end and played on Baylor's Orange Bowl team in 1952. Donaldson had battled cancer before dying in Temple on April 27. A number of Baylor letterwinners attended his funeral, including two members of his relay team - the Rev. Ray Vickery, who conducted the service, and BU track coach Clyde Hart, who was a pallbearer.

W. Clyde Robinson was born in New York City and came to Baylor in 1948 after service in the Navy. He was an outstanding pitcher from 1949 through 1951, specializing in beating the University of Texas. Robinson pitched in the Brooklyn Dodger farm system until deciding to go into teaching. He earned five degrees: BA and BBA from Baylor; MA from Tulane; MA from Vanderbilt and an LLD from Baylor. Robinson taught Economics at Baylor for 17 years before working five years with the U.S. Department of Justice Department. He taught at Central Michigan and and the University of Houston before ending his teaching career. After moving to Waco in his retirement years, he died of cancer on April 30.
