Bears unable to comeback over Fighting Illini

URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No.8 Baylor men's tennis dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 32 Illinois on Friday night at the Atkins Tennis Center, as the Bears were unable to comeback after losing the doubles point.

THE RUNDOWN
Starting in doubles, Baylor dropped Court One with Alexandru Chirita and Zsombor Velcz 6-3. Baylor then picked up Court Three by Devin Badenhorst and Blake Anderson 6-3. The Bears couldn't hold the momentum though and fell on Court Two with Luc Koening and Connor Van Schalkwyk 6-4.

Moving on to singles Illinois went on to win back-to-back on Court Four against Chirita 6-2, 6-1 and Court One with Badenhorst 6-4, 6-0.

Baylor's sole point came from Court Three by No. 27 Connor Van Schalkwyk taking a 7-6(3), 6-4 win. Following shortly after, Illinois took Court Two with No. 39 Velcz dropping to No. 22 Kenta Miyoshi in. a three-set battle, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Baylor continues its road stretch, traveling to Rice on March 2^nd at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
