BU’s sophomore recognized among the nations best
WACO, Texas – Baylor volleyball's Ksenia Rakhmanchik has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I Women's Volleyball Player of the Year Watch List on Wednesday.
The stellar sophomore is one of 16 players added to the 30-player watch list announced in July. The additions were selected by the AVCA Division I Women's Volleyball Awards Committee and recognize some of the nation's top performers competing for the Player of the Year honor. BU's Yossiana Presley won the award in 2019, helping the Bears to the best season in program history, culminating in a trip to the Final Four.
Named to the AVCA All-Region First Team in 2025, Rakhmanchik has established herself as one of the most productive offensive players in the country during the 2026 season. The sophomore enters Thursday's match at Texas Tech ranking among the Big 12 leaders and the nation's top 10 in attacks per set (11.27), kills per set (4.65) and points per set (5.08).
She has recorded double-digit kills in 23 straight matches dating back to last season and has led the Bears in kills, attacks and points in 13 of Baylor's 14 matches this season.
Behind some big performances from Rakhmanchik, the Bears rank second in the Big 12 in hitting percentage in conference matches at .299.
The AVCA will announce its list of semifinalists in mid-November, with finalists set to be announced in mid-December. The 2026 AVCA Division I Women's Volleyball Player of the Year will be announced at the awards banquet in San Antonio on Friday, Dec. 18.
