The "B" Association and Baylor Athletics will recognize former Baylor wide receiver, Mike Fisher, as a 2023 Baylor Football Legend at the Baylor vs. Long Island University game on September 16th at McLane Stadium.
A native of Gatesville, Texas, Fisher was a two-sport letterwinner at Baylor, earning varsity letters in both Football and Track & Field from 1978-1980.
In track, he earned All-American status as a freshman in the Mile Relay, along with fellow relay All-American teammates Steve Sims, Mark Collins, and Chris Clarke in 1978. In football, Fisher's quickness and athleticism as a wide receiver were key factors in the Bears' successful season record and their 24-18 Peach Bowl victory over Clemson in 1979. He helped usher the Bears to the 1980 Southwest Conference Championship and the '81 Cotton Bowl the following year. He earned All-SWC at the wide receiver position the same year.
After his senior season, Fisher was selected in the 8th round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. He taught school and coached for 33 years. He is now retired and resides in Fate, Texas with his wife Lynn, where the couple enjoys their 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
Please join us this Saturday in giving a warm Baylor welcome to 2023 Football Legend, Mike Fisher!
